Marks & Spencers Royal Jubilee

As usual, Marks and Sparks are celebrating the next Royal occasion in style! I was delighted to be asked to design a range of products for them to mark the occasion of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this year. The collection I decorated is made up of traditionally British fare, including tea, shortbread, raspberry jam and beer! I’ll post some more of the products soon.

National Newspaper feature

Check me out in The National newspaper! The Dubai-based paper was running a feature on designers and small business owners in the UAE and they asked me some questions about my work and experience. You can read the full interview here.

Love is in the air!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Here is the card I made for Mr B this year. I was trying to avoid all the cliche colours and go for something a bit different this time. What do you think?

Snowflake Papercut

As you may know, I am quite partial to a bit of laser cutting. So when one of my clients at Richard Chapman Design Associates asked me to create a snowflake for their 2011 Christmas card, I was happy to oblige. The simple design was cut from a gorgeous heavy weight card, white on the inside and a soft turquoise (my favourite colour!) on the outside.

INKY

Here’s a little something I did this morning.

CALIFORNIA INSPIRATION

I have just come back from an inspiring trip to sunny California. And I really wish I could go back there immediately! We spent time in San Francisco before embarking on a road trip down the breathtaking Route 1 pacific coast highway. Here are just a few of the million photographs I took on the way. Happy Autumn…

CALLIGRAPHY for SHIRLEY HUGHES

I was very flattered to be asked by the team at Random House Children’s Books, to create an extra special gift for one of their top authors. This year Shirley Hughes is celebrating 30 years of her much loved character, Alfie and her publishers asked me to create a piece of hand written calligraphy as a present for her. If you like this, there’s more inky goodness to see here.

THE BEST LITTLE BOOK CLUB

A while ago I designed the cover for a series of chick-lit short stories called The Book Lover’s Appreciation Society.  This summer, I was asked to illustrate the second book in the series: The Best Little Book Club in Town – a collection of stories by the likes of Sophie Kinsella, Kate Mosse and Jodi Picoult. Enjoy!

AND THEN IT HAPPENED

A new novel by acclaimed author Linda Green has just hit the shelves. I love designing books where I get to play with the whole cover – lettering and illustration interacting together. For this one, the art director at Headline had a specific idea of what he wanted from the start – but we still managed to go round the houses. Behold, the evolution of the book cover (final version bottom right!)

McDonalds

I worked with advertising agency Leo Burnett to design some huge paper-cut illustrations to adorn the sides of McDonalds’ delivery trucks. For this part of the project, I created four different, surreal, paper landscapes to run along side the brands new ethical ABC campaign
